Charcoal from Whiskey Barrels

This is a byproduct from our local distillery - it gets filtered out when the whiskey is transferred from the oak barrels, and it’s otherwise discarded. It smells heavenly, and it makes a nice grey/black soap. We reclaim it and grind it for use in our Whiskey Barrel soap, and now you can enjoy it, too!

A half pound (8 oz) is about a quart size bag packed flat.

We've mostly dried it, but there may still be some moisture in your charcoal. The way the charcoal comes out of the barrels, there's some white oak still attached - you'll find white oak flecks in both the chunky and ground versions. 

We recommend blending it with essential oils in the “trees” and “flowers” neighborhoods - Himalayan Cedarwood, Texas Cedarwood, Frankincense, Lavender, and all of their friends - let us know what delicious combinations you come up with!
